Nearly Retired (I am now)
When I told someone that I had maybe 100m2 - 200m2 of stone pointing to do in France one day, he suggested I take a look at www.progrout.co.uk. For £200 (ouch) you get what looks like a heavy gauge plastic funnel and screw thingy with a nozzle which is powered by your battery drill. My friend hasn't seen or used one and nor have I. I'm not connected with this company in any way, but just wonder if it might help a d-i-y er like me. If it speeds things up and does the job properly then good - but if you spend your time cleaning it, clearing blockages and buying new drills after wearing one out every week then maybe it's not for me. Chippiepat
appears to me that it's more for pointing patio's than walls.Have a look in screw fix cat. they do a mastic gun type of pointing tool for about 30£ this is what I'm going to try & if it's no good havn't lost too much. Most of the work to my way of thinking is raking out the existing joints. Chancer
The mastic gun ones work OK but only with sable lapin or builders sand, if you try to use sharp sand (as we have to in this area) it wont work.
Anton Redman
Leroy Merlin stock a tool which looks like a giant bag of for icing suger. They also sell a platiciser for adding to mortar so that it flows through the tool
