castine on driveways and paths.

When i arrived here 5 years ago the road to my house was a track.

A local builder put granite chippings down as a foundation and then a layer of castine(0-20m.m.) and used a machine to press it in -a dammeuse I think is the french name.

Now after wear some of surface is exposing granite.

Question is If I apply more castine  do I need a machine??

ALSO Is castine a good idea to put on rough metalled walk ways without compacting to suppress weeds as the ground is too difficult to work as a planting area--I think it was the path the cows used to the farm.

A "wacker plate" - essential to stop the "dust-to-20" from sorting itself and drifting all over the place. You can hire them from your local hire shop.

Uncompacted gravel won't stop weeds.
