Keelstow
I am going to renew my house insurance in France towards the end of July and currently use an agent in a local town. Although it seems reasonable priced it is not the way I do things in the UK . Like many others the internet seems the best option to shop around and find competitive pricesI have looked at a couple of sites so far http://www.direct-assurance.fr/homepage/hp.aspxhttp://www.macif.fr/and even with my limited french it seems easy enough to arrange on line at a price well below what I pay through the agent. They seem to want to know the surface area of the property and your profession to quote a priceDoes anybody else have experience of buying on line for a french property and any of the things to watch out for...are there any sites to recommend or avoid?I realize this may not be the place to post this sort of question and any help in getting a better response is also helpfulmartin
ChezShells
For me, unless you speak fluent french then it will pay for you to go to a local agent who may speak some english or at least get you to understand one way or another face to face.Getting insurance in the UK and making a claim can be a nightmare, imagine what it will be like here online or not.Should be lots of insurance agents locally, pay them a visit. Mr Coeur de Lion
When we had to organise car and house insurance from Australia, we found a small company down south who are agents for one of the larger insurance companies. They were extremely helpful, spoke English, provided the insurance in English and French as well as the policy booklets. Very competitive compared to local agents and banks (since we've been here) and we renewed with them for the second year. pm me for contact details.
