Mark
Are there any rules, similar to the requirement for planning permission for building developments greater than 20m2, for hard landscaping type stuff in the garden? I plan to put up a pergola or two, do some terracing and paths down to a river at the foot of the garden, and various things like that. Nothing major, but it will change the look of the garden quite dramatically (hopefully for the better!).Thanks, Mark [:)]
Gardian
In theory, yes.Technically, you need a Declaration de Travaux, which isn't a particularly daunting form to complete, but tiresome nonetheless. In practice, the old advice is always the best: have a quiet word at the Mairie, tell the Secretaire what you're planning and she'll give you the nod (or something or other). Here, they're not bothered, but the attitude will vary from Mairie to Mairie. I've done pretty much as you're planning and just went ahead and did it.As always, the question is whether what you're planning might impinge on someone else, however pleasing it might be to you. If no, you'll probably be OK. If (even possibly) yes, then seek formal permission, via a DdT.
Patf
I think there are regulations about doing work near a river. I agree with Gardian, make informal enquiries at the Mairie.
