le rouge
I am sure I read somewhere (maybe on here but cant now find it) that it is possible to make your own logs out of wood chippings and paper, soaking the paper round them or something. Or am I imagining things? Why would you do this? I have a shed load (or bucher load) of wood chippings that I have removed from my house. It was the original insulation. I have now replaced it with more up to date loft insulation rolls.Rather than just burn it on my open fire, although I have burnt some and it does burn well and not too fast, I think it may be worth trying making some into logs. It may be not exactly time/cost effective but I am feeling all countrified and self sufficient so would like to have a go!!Any ideas?

Mark
I think you can get a machine for 50 euros or less from the supermarkets which crushes your chippings and clippings into burnable logs, which supposedly burn quite efficiently. We were thinking of getting one but haven't got round to it yet.Good enviro-brownie points for not much outlay - yay!Machine's probably made of plastic though - boo! Ford Anglia
I've also seen old newspapers made into decent logs by wetting, then pressing in a special machine. It was advertised in one of the sundays...........

tracteurtom
or use it as a mulch on the garden .............
le rouge
I like the idea of mulch but what I have hardly constitutes a garden at the moment. It will shortly be a building site. Might keep some in a corner.
