Binky
HiI am currently in dispute with a builder about the quality of work they have done in particular the fitting of french doors to the front and back which are leaking and badly fitted. He has now said that he will get a independant building inspector to look at it and we should then abide by this advice. Can anyone tell me about building inspectors as I thought they did not exist in France. If so who do they work for and where are they based and what regulations are they governed by, as obviously I do not want a mate of the builder turning up claiming to be an Inspector.Any advice would be appreciatedMany thanksBinky
Val_2
The person you are looking for would be known basically as an Expert and then depending on the problem under that category and they are usually individuals either working alone or in a cabinet. They are very commonly used in disputes as a neutral source of expertise and for writing up a report in case of a court case. They should be able to present you with identity giving their legal registration number and qualifications and will not be swayed by the person who has engaged them or they face serious disciplinary action. caramac
Binky, I would advise contacting your insurance company. They have a list of specialist "experts" (usually architects or similar) that they send out to verify claims - loss adjuster types. They would be able to recommend one in your area, and it's worth checking your policy as you may well have cover for any possible legal action. Hope it doesn't get that far though!Hope this helps
