Iceni
The rope door seal has come adrift. Pls advise on the best product to reglue it particularly as French logburners seem cordless.TIAJohnand
Chas
I have seen both cord and heat resistant adhesive on sale in M. Bricolage etc and the woodburner retailers.
Clair
We have replaced the cord on our door.As per previous post, we found the suitable replacement from Mr Bricolage. There are different thicknesses/diameters available, as well as flat or round cords... if you see what I mean...[8-)], so best to take a bit of the old one with you. LesFlamands
John, you need the 10mm rope available from the bricos. It's best to replace the ropes rather than re-glue the existing as they tend to wear on the hinge side of the doors. The glue supplied with the kits works well but you need to clean the metal thouroughly, wire brush then white spirit. Cut the new rope to length and apply glue. You will need a number of those spring type clamps to hold the rope in place whilst the glue dries. You may need to adjust the door catch slightly until the new seals settle in. Iceni
UpdateThe new seals seem to be working ok. Naturally one cannot buy them in the summer (who needs heating then ?) and by the time we get to fire lighting time the entire stock (of 2?) is sold out within minutes. Thanks for your help.Johnand
