Tony F Dordogne
We're just about to retile the toilet and after knocking it about a bit, the bathroom/toilet.Can anybody recommend a ready made tile adhesive from one of the brico sheds, somewhere like Leroy Merlin or Castorama? For a number of reasons I dont want to buy the dust and then make it up, for me it's more convenient to buy the ready mix tho I appreciate that it's much more expensive this way.And silly question really, is the ready made stuff cement and grout together or will I have to grout as well? Anton Redman
From experience any of them are alright including the dreaded Brico Depot stuff. I would only use the readymade combined adhesive and grout on a very small job. It is not as good at either job as the right product. Make sure you buy the correct grout and adhesive if you are doing a shower area.
Richard & Tracy
Ready mixed adhesives are air drying and only suitable for certain tile types and sizes. It should only be applied give a 3mm bed and so the substrate should be virtually flat. Ideally you should use a bagged adhesive as it dries by chemical reaction, is stronger and can be applied to a thicker depth to cope with surface deviations. Never use combined adhesive and grout, they are two different products for two distinct functions. Let me know if you need anymore advice.
