IKEA Cooker Hobs

Has anyone bought an electric hob from IKEA in France?

Have looked on both the UK and French IKEA websites and they a number of the hobs are the same model number in both countries. Visited an IKEA in the UK, lay on the floor and pulled out the slides in the display unit to see what markings there were underneath. None of them had the NF marking.

Wondered if those sold in France had the NF marking.

Some of the models wee cheaper in the UK and others cheaper in France. The one we could be interested in is cheaper in the UK so thought of bringing one over but keen that it has the right symbols etc

I think white goods are one area where cost versus quality IKEA are behind the game. You can get better quality in either the Hypermarkets or the specialists for less money.

For some  years I ran an exercise every September when the new catalogues came out. The were frequently large differecnes in Price between UK France and Belgium for identical products.

We had to buy our ceramic hob from IKEA Montpellier as the old one we were replacing was an off standard size that only they supplied at any kind of reasonable price. At one stage it was beginning to look like it might just have been cheaper to replace the kitchen rather than try to fill the rather large hole left by the old hob!

Anyway three years on and so far, so good.

Don't know about markings but the qualified electrician, who is very fussy, was happy to fit it.

Must go - Have just been carried off by two men with cotton bondage jacket with tasteful leather straps - Isabel claims I have been laughing uncontrolably for the last 30 minutes

Thanks for the replies and that I will be OK with CE and not NF.

Plans changed for our visit next week since the sister-in-law and her husband have asked 'can we come with you' so it will be a case of a work free week.

Have to do the work on our next visit.
