Mark
A poele installation question: am I ok to simply use a sheet of fire-proof plasterboard as the register plate through which the flue pipe passes on its way up the chimney, or does something metallic need to be involved as well? Thanks [:D]
sid
MarkI thought that someone more knowledgeable would have replied by now...[Www]All of the register plates I've seen have been metal. I don't know whether the fireproof plasterboard would be OK, it's normally used on the area behind a fireplace, when you have a new chimney built for example.Hopefully this will prompt a response [;-)]Sid
Clair
Mr Clair made a metal framework around the inside using U-shaped plasterboard rails and inserted fire-proof platerboard panels (pink coloured). The cut-out for the flue is about 2cm larger than the flue diameter and the fixing plate around the flue cover the gap.(no comment on the wildlife habitat please... Mark
Brill, thanks both. Clair, your set up looks like what I've got in our house now, so I'll just replicate it in the other one.
sid
Excellent Clair, I had wondered about this; our metal plate looks positively crude by comparison!Sid
