Grumpy
Can anyone tell me the correct French word for a chimney cowl? The nearest I can get is capuchon. Secondly, where can they be purchased? I am after something that will fit over an existing disused chimney pot to prevent water ingress. I have tried the on-line Lapeyre and PointP amongst others, to no avail! All suggestions gratefully received.Steve
Phil & Pat
Hi,Not exactly a cowl I know, but our devis for installation of a woodburner included a mitron, terre cuite and a chapeau inox. You could contact a heating installer or perhaps a brocante specialising in what would be called architectural salvage in the UK. Anyone know what the French term is for architectural salvage?Hope this helps.
Chancer
Chapiteau perhaps?Or just say you are looking for a "truc" and go on to describe what it is for, what it will do, what it is like etc, a bit like charades but with another language thrown in.3 years on and I am still finding some of these little "trucs" that I tried in vain to describe, they are usually in the shop/builders merchants where I asked for them and in the particular case of aerosol flourescent marker paint was on the shelf right behind me over my left shoulder, in full view of the assistant while I was trying to describe it, except perhaps he could not see through his tears of laughter[:)]
