tenniswitch
I'm getting lots of conflicting advice about what to do with our parquet floors (in every room, including kitchen and baths). We have quite a variety: old pine floors, old hardwood floors (beautiful oak in 1 bedroom), new pine and new oak.I've been advised to use "parquet oil", "encaustic liquide des 3 freres" (which I can't even find by googling), paste wax, varnish, polyurethane. I just want the floors to look like nicely-cared-for old floors (and to survive the inevitable splashes and spills in the kitchen and baths).Help from some of you experienced renovators would certainly be appreciated. clarksinfrance
Cork varnish works a treat, ( if you can find any) penetrates into the wood, leaves a hint of a sheen, and is waterproof, and because it sinks in, the wood doesn't become lethal when wet. Haven't seen any out here though.
