Nicos
I understand that certain people in France are entitled to claim back a percentage of the cost and installation of woodburning stoves. Is this correct and if so....Who is actually entitled to apply? ( ie English people - who have lived in France for more than x months/ payed income tax for x months/ over a certain age ???)Our French neighbour mentioned this to us but had no idea what criteria had to be fulfilled.Anyone know?? mint
Nicos, you need to be French resident. As we understand it, you get 50% of the cost of the stove. Some people on the forum have said you also get 50% of the materials for installation such as flues, etc.I sent in our first tax return earlier this year and enclosed our original receipts etc. Will wait and see.Oh, by the way, you need to have paid for the stove and installation to one properly registered artisan. For example, if you buy the stove and install it yourself, you will not be entitled to anything.
gosub
Sorry[:$] you are correct I have edited the post to avoid misunderstanding.I don't believe that you can claim for the flues etc. officially, some people have been lucky [:D]
dr orloff
And check that the stove is of sufficient efficiency to qualify for the credit - 'flamme verte' marked. Must be the main residence - therefore by implication cannot apply to a non-resident, even though they may need to complete a french tax form. cooperlola
And check that the stove is of sufficient efficiency to qualify for the credit - 'flamme verte' marked.
As the installation must be done by a French professional in order to qualify for a tax rebate, the installer should be able to give you advice as to which stoves qualify and which do not. Although, the "flamme verte" mark is the standard, as you say Dr O.
