La Guerriere
We've had our residence secondaire for upwards of fifteen years and it has a little sewage system which takes all waste water. There is a bac a graisse and what we believe is a fosse of only 1.5 m3 and a rather small epandage. It has worked pretty well over the years, but it's obviously too small by current standards. The great amenagement des combles is rising up the agenda and it is time to think in terms of getting an up-to-date system which complies with current norms. We will then have four bedrooms and two bathrooms and I suspect we are going to need a 5m3 jobby.Big problem is that we do not enough territory for the epandage with correct clearances to boundaries, buildings, trees etc etc. Obviously the next step is to get a bureau d'etudes on baord to do the assessment and design, but in the meantime, anybody out there had an experience of a new system on a restricted site ? Sand filters ? Reed beds ? Whatever ?[I]We are in Manche 50, so also anybody know of a good bureau d'etudes ?

Pommier
There's a company in Percy (in the building which used to be the Tresor Public) which does soil tests etc. Alternatively I'd expect the secretary at your local Mairie would be able to suggest where to go. Dave&Olive
hi ok My view your fosse has worked for 15 years if it`s not broke why fix it !!! wait untill you are told to do it , you will then be given 4 years to do the upgrade . A 4 bed house only needs a 4000ltr tank but if you take out the bed in the 4th bedroom and tell em it`s an office before you get inspected you will get away with a 3000ltr one , By the time you need to up grade there maybe better products on the market than there are now , so just sit and think ,,,,,or think and sit theres an H missing somewhere there Dave

BJSLIV
The application for the permis to amenage les combles is likely to provoke an inspection and the obligation to improve the fosse.
zeb
We've just had a Bionest system (www.bionest.ca) installed. Consists of two tanks and no sandfilter bed. This was recommended by the SPANC guy who came out and looked at the site with the fosse installer.
