jehe
We are renovating at the moment and although, internally we areretaining the natural stone wherever possible, I have one interior wallwith such poor stonework that I would like to cover it with wash/paintto retain the stone outlines but smooth things out somewhat.Suggestions of a breathable paint would be appreciated. Also any suggestions on a suitable solution to paint on the otherstone walls to stabilise them and stop dust coming off would be uesful.Thanks. Nearly Retired (I am now)
I just find the damp does a good job of containing the dust !
Dave&Olive
hi ok any paint with pliolite in is breathable.... so is lime wash ,, pva can be used to stop the walls dusting if they are dry , upva for mildly damp walls. pva here is resin latex but not seen upva as yet .. but water proof wood glue would do the same job Dave
Richard & Tracy
You need a penetrating sealer suitable for stone for the dust problem. You will be able to get it at a tile/stone shop. PVA will sit on the surface and make the stone a little shiny.
nomoss
Following my neighbours' practice in Spain, I just used old remains of varnish (this got rid of several hoarded part-full tins), cut with about 30% white spirit. Cheap, and it's lasted 9 years so far.It just needs some very occasional recoating low down where the damp gets to it.
