AnOther
Obviously one needs to keep a woodburners' flue a respectable distance from combustible materials but in the case of an outside wall which is plastered terracota tile with plasterboard directly screwed on top of that (i.e. no wooden battens) and finally finished with tiles, what would be a safe distance ? Michael
50mm clearance all round, minimum from any combusible material. Normal plasterboard is considered combustible.
Dave&Olive
hi OK think you have left a one out there . The flue must be 150 mm from the inside of the flue away from anything combustible Dave
AnOther
150mm does sound more sensible. There are of course many variations of plasterboard but if one were using one of the non-combustible types then in the circumstances described would about 100mm be OK ? Jerac
Is the flue single skinned, or is it insulated twin wall?
AnOther
Single in the room but double above that.
Patf
Do be careful, Ernie. We had a plasterboard surround catch fire, luckily we were able to extinguish it quickly. After that bought fire-resistant from Leroy Merlin. They also said distance was 150mm.
