wallifer
I'm getting confused between concrete and cement over here. I understand the Beton is for concrete and Ciment is for cement. To do the underpinning on the corner of my house do I need Beton and do I need to mix sable and gravier with it.
Chancer
As you have rightly said, Beton is concrete and ciment is cement. To mix concrete (beton) one uses sand (sable) and gravier (gravel) with cement (ciment), there is also sometimes "melange beton" (sand and gravel mixed available and also beton prêt a l'emploi (ready mixed concrete).I am somewhat alarmed that you are intending doing a structural job like underpinning yet are confused on the basic composition of concrete. wallifer
I'm asking because my French is not very good and although I can use an online translator, it doesn't always come up with an answer that makes sense.I won't be doing the work my OH will, he knows what to do but just wants to check he is getting the correct product. La Guerriere
If you have any quantity to mix it's much easier to get Readimix (beton prêt a l'emploi). I rate it as good value for money, even if you have to buy extra beer for a few chums to come and help spread it around.
wallifer
That would be a good idea except a lorry would not get through my gates and as the area is differcults to work in, OH is going to do it in stages
