Grants For Renovation Works

Hi

We have bought a 16th Century house in a classified village, opposite the Church, which is an Historical Monument.  Our builder has told us that the Marie informed him that we would be able to get a grant / subsidy for some of the renovations.  Does anyone have experience of obtaining a similar grant ? Can you please advise how we should apply for one

thanks

As the property is in a protected area, all the work has to be referred to the local representative of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France, which is the official body overseeing all works within range of classified monuments and historical sites.

As you do not mention which department your property is in, I cannot search for the contact details.

Thanks Clare

The house is in the Tarn, the house has a big roof,  395m2 surface and the builder we have picked has quoted 51 000€, so any grant would help..  The builder has been in contact with Architectes des Bâtiments de France and is aware of the restriction etc. He is genuinely interested in the house and like us, wants to keep as much of the original structure as possible.

Do you know if we would need to apply for a grant before the work is started, does the devis need to be approved.  We want to get the roof sorted out as soon as possible so that the house is watertight again, there is some water damage for the storms at the beginning of the year.

thanks
