partout
We have a new underground oil tank, and are finding that water gets into the oil tank. On top of this tank is a collar with a cover, where the breather pipe and fuel in pipe are situated. The breather pipe is a fair bit taller than the fuel pipe, and wondered if anyone has bought or had adapted the fuel filler pipe to be as tall as the breather. The cap on the fuel pipe is not water proof, we think this is where the weakness is, and thought a taller pipe may well solve our problem. Any useful ideas folks would be much appreciated. Théière
Replacing the fuel filler cap with one that is waterproof sounds like a good idea. How about the screw on type used for marine purposes (should be waterproof).
partout
Hi we had thought of marine fuel caps, but unfortunately the bowser when it comes to fill our tank has to screw onto the filler tube on the tank, the fuel is not delivered through a regular pump style nozzle. Le Plombier
If it is a new tank as you state then you should go back to the installer and insist they correct the problemLe Plombier
partout
Le plombierhave tried to contact the plumber and he doesn't want to know anything about it, so we are resorting to getting it sorted ourselves, we don't need to spend all our time when we are visiting syphoning off the water, so we are looking at the alternatives available to us, before we consider having the tank replaced at our cost. BIG MAC
In the meantime an upturned bucket over the inlet will provide a rudimentary shroud
