Postie
I have fitted a small woodburner with a 150mm sortie into our kitchen fireplace. I have tried to put down a 150mm flue but it won't fit because the chimney is too crooked. Can I reduce the flue size to 140mm? I have heard that the regs do not allow the use of reducers (???) but can't understand why. Thanx Postie
milkeybar kid
Mr & Mrs Postie, sorry it does not answer why but...I am in the throes of gathering info for friends about installation of wood burners and do's and dont's,chatting this morning with an installer he said a reduction is dangerous , I asked why and the simple explanation was ... its the law and if you go against it your insurance is invalid should there be a claim eg; your house going on fire or a death caused by the fire. That was enough for me.Oh, he was French but spoke excellent English!!

Dog
I wouldn't waste sleep worrying - who will see it? 10mm reduction isn't much. Go for it.
Postie
Thanx for all your replies and advice. I am just a little confused that it seems better to have, no flue at all, rather than have a reduced surface area of just under 13% with a smaller flue.
