PeterG
You could try caustic soda................but be careful.http://www.diybasics.co.uk/UnblockingDrains.html
Clair
Buy a bottle of Destop (available from most shops, agri co-ops, etc...):As PeterG says in his post, handle with care and gloves.

Mr Coeur de Lion
Nothing has worked, so I guess I'm going to have to cut into the pipe and try and remove the blockage manually.
Gardengirl
Sorry to hear about your blockage - have you been trying to fix it in the middle of the night? Cutting sounds drastic; is there no join somewhere it can be undone? Good luck![:)]
RicandJo
If you know anybody with a Karcher, borrow it and go get a drain clearing attachment http://www.amazon.co.uk/Karcher-7-5M-Drain-Cleaning-Kit/dp/B000BFH6M4/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_0/277-2901696-2606337 readily available in most Bricos. Undo the drain in question at a convenient point (i.e. remove a sink waste trap) and give it some. The attachment will propel itself down the pipe due to it's rearward facing jets, unblocking as it goes.Works really well!
Théière
Which pipe/pipes specifically?
Mr Coeur de Lion
Pipes from my dishwasher, then sink follow a 4 metre path with the washing machine tapping in followed by the boiler overflow and finally a bathroom sink before ending up at an evacuation pump that pumps the waste up to road level. The block is about 6m into it's journey going round two 90 deg bends. It's between the boiler drain and final sink.It is a little better this morning after chucking a ton of caustic soda down, so have put another bottle down it an hour ago and I'll leave it til tomorrow before seeing what happens. Théière
Good luck Richard, do you use powdered or liquid detergent in the washing machine?
Mr Coeur de Lion
Always liquid.I must admit, I've been using a slightly thicker liquid of late. It's not as liquidy as normal.
Théière
Hmm maybe that then, we used a stuff "Facidou" or something and that goes thicker the longer you keep it. Banned O/H from buying/using it. Incidentally using two 45 deg bends rather than tight 90's is much better and can also be roded if required with the small drain cleaner.Obviously you would need a longer version
Mr Coeur de Lion
Sorted. As luck would have it, the very spot I cut into (in fact the only spot i could cut into) had the blockage. Bizzarly, there was a small plastic bag that somehow was in the pipe and all the crap and stuff had collected up behind it.I can only assume it's been in there since the pipes were installed as there's no way a bag that big could get down a plughole, unless it was in a trouser pocket and came out of the washing machine, but that would also be unlikely.Have boxed it up and am waiting for the glue to set before chucking water down it. Théière
The bad news is that bag was in your trouser pocket and contained 35 euros of which ther was no sign [:D]

Mr Coeur de Lion
Damn these stuffing pipes. What the hell is going on with them? They are now blocked worse than before and I have a stuffing kitchen and laundry flooded with water again.Damn this French plumbing. It's never been right, I should get the plumber out again to fix his stuff ups, but I just don't trust him anymore. But I can't understand how it can get blocked so much in such a short space of time. I've been so careful not to put anything down the pipes, ie food etc. It'll have to stay blocked til I get back from the US now, can't be doing with it now.Rant over. Grrrrr.
