Albert the InfoGipsy
I have always coated knots in softwoods with 'knotting' before painting. Today I tried in a brico shed and a traditional quincaillerie and nobody recognised my description of what I wanted. Does anyone know how French painters prevent the resin bleeding out of knots from raising or even blowing a paint surface?
Gluestick
It is only Shellac Varnish, Albert: made from Shellac flakes dissolved in meths.Ask a (Wait for this!) French Polisher!
Albert the InfoGipsy
Thanks, Gluestick. I thought that was what it was made from, but couldn't remember how to say shellac. The funny thing was that nobody even recognised the reason I wanted it. Dunno if French paints or methods are that different from ours.
