mint
We have a large window/door where I would like to hang a vertical blind; the sort with plastic slats where you could alter the angle of the slats or draw the blind completely. They are cheap as chips in the UK but I have no idea where to get them in France and where the price is reasonable. It may not need to be made to measure because, whilst the opening is quite large, it is a standard size.Any of the chain places do them? Or any small or specialist shop near the southern end of dept 17 or any on-line stores? All answers will be gratefully received.[:)]
Patf
They are called "stores" in french which is rather confusing. Leroy Merlin have a large range, all sorts of materials and prices. We bought one last week.
Frank
HiI have seen them in Mr Bricolage and other bricos, but they are quite expensive. I had made to measure blackout vertical blinds in the UK via an online company and even with the extra delivery charges (complicated as they only del in the UK so used a company who do regular trips to france) they worked out substantially cheaper! I had a rough quote for one occultant blind made to measure 2..5 * 2.5 mtr and the cost was over 700e!!!! I got all my blinds (3 the same 2.5 size and one smaller) for just a little more! There are a couple of online shops in France who do vertical blinds if you wanted to compare the costs. If you are able to have the blind made to measure with a UK shop and dewl to a Uk address, it may be cost effective to have it collected by one of the many uk shopping services that are available. Hope this helps, happy shopping
mint
Thank you both for your input. It is as I suspected: megabucks in France and relatively cheap in the UK!Will now source them in the UK and pay for delivery or might even get someone to bring them over for me and pay them or entertain them royally![:D]
Frank
Hi, where are you in dept 17, I am just outside Gemozac and had a thought that if you wanted to see the quality etc of the blinds I sourced from an online shop in the UK you're more than welcome to call in, just let me know before hand by PM and we can organise it. I also know of a shopping service available in Gemozac who travel back and forth to uk to collect goods/shopping, pm me if you want their contact details to discuss details direct with them. Happy shopping
