100kw pellet boiler

I thought I would share some of the pics from our new heating system instal.

The system had to be able to heat our 10 bedroom chateau a small guardians house a large gym and a couple of outer buildings. Total number of radiators 48.

System chosen 100kw Froling ( the old boiler which only fed the chateau was a 80kw Gemenox, we left that in place as a back up and also to top up the Froling in the event of severe cold weather.

New system installed 100 meters away from the main chateau adjacent to the gym block.

Insulated underground bipex pipe had to be laid, ridiculously expensive I nearly fell over when pricing the pipe.

The manifold would have not looked out of place on a cruse ship

The big tank is a 2200 ltr tank that feeds the system the smaller tank supplies hot water to the gym block

To feed the system we installed auger feeder in an adjacent building to the boiler house

It has a holding capacity of 40 tons

Total project instal time took 6 weeks and was installed by a local French firm. I had tenders for the system from all over Europe as it was an industrial install but a local firm came in about 8k more than the cheapest devis after negotiation he was on par with the cheapest quote.

The plan is from next year to run it on our own wood chips have a lot of cut wood that I am drying at the moment. We have 30 acres of forest I figure if I manage the forest properly and re plant we will be self sufficient.
Could not get the pics to work sorry, the last one is where the pellets or chips are stored then automatically fed to the boiler. Yep she is a big system, its the boiler of the future and one of the good things is its carbon neutral ;-)
I think your find most people in France know that which is why you get such a healthy tax rebate (around 40% I believe) on installing anything that burns wood, that's assuming your paying tax in France of course.

Sadly as we are a business the only thing we can claim back is the TVA which is still 19%. We visited the offices of the impots for clarification not much incentive for a business to go green. But if you are a normal home owner then you would only pay 5.5% plus are able to claim a huge chunk back.

We took the long term few that we wanted to be as green as possible and not dependent on the oil companies.

Thanks for getting the pictures to work, where was I going wrong ?
Re "carbon neutral", strickly speaking, burning oil is also carbon neutral - if you consider a long enough time span.
That old chestnut always amuses me too, Steve! [:)]

You burns bio-mass, adding Oxygen to Carbon and even when your combustion process is the best ever (e.g. gasification), having burned the CO yer gets CO2.

OK: photosynthesis means yer converts back CO2, to a degree.

I prefer the term "Sustainable Resources", to Carbon Neutral.

'Cos it can be true.
