sallymcc
we have a large house in a small village 10Km from Mayenne, we need a surveyor who is familiar with dry rot and damp and wondered if anyone could suggest one who will be independent. BIG MAC
Hi Sally / neighbour we are in Charchigne so presumably not far from you...What is you want? you should have got a survey with the property but my experience of rural France is if it's woodworm and relatively sound then treat it..if its soggy or has fruiting bodies etc...get rid pronto. Damp comes free with Mayenne houses but loads of ways of dealing with it ...number one being heat and ventilate the house. If I can help (Gratis) then I can pop by at some point for a cuppa and a chat, may not be as bad as you anticipate...I am dealing with ours as I go along. sallymcc
hi we are in Bais, so about 15/20 km away, the property was my brothers, he died earlier this year and I don't think he got a survey. there is lots of wet rot and worm, but nothing too major, HOWEVER there is dry rot in one of the cellars, and we have been quoted 90K to fix it, so was looking for an independant viewpoint as to if this cost is really necessary.we are going over next week so if you are around........
