Gardener
I have discovered some v small brown beetles in the space we use as a pantry that is used to store dogfood and dry food . Can I use a smoke fumigator without causing harm to us, damage to paper and paint or any lingering smells and if yes, where can I get them from? BIG MAC
I seem to recall hearing of 'grain weevils' which sound a bit like what you are on about and I think a simple insecticide did the trick (all the affected food would need to be disposed of)
Gardener
I don't know what they were , but they were about 3 mm long. The area has now been sprayed vigorously with fly spray , cleaned and vacuumed and dog food moved,
Alna
If they are weevils I have had them twice. They like floury foodstuffs...I have found them in an opened bag of flour. Basically everything has to be closed, but they will even bore through the paper bag of flour...all my foodstuffs are now in plastic tubs, only way to stop them. If it is a big bag of dog food then best get it in a plastic bin with a lid. Good luck.
Patf
Somone elsewhere suggested using Diatomaceous earth. Which is evidently harmless- just sprinkle it around.
confused of chalus
Any ideas where to get that earth Patf? pitway
DM earth can be bought at swimming pool suppliers like cash piscines, but they would probably only sell it in 25Kg bags which might be a bit over the top for your needs :-)

woolybanana
Reading the title of this thread the first time I thought it said "panty beetles", which makes the rest of the posts much more fun; the thought of shoring up your drawers against beetle invasions seems much more worthy of exploration!!![6]
