I hope to sell my French house later this year.  Am I required by law now to provide a certificate of conformity for the electrical system.

The diagnosis electricity will enter into force on 1 January 2009. A diagnosis on the state of the electrical equipment will be necessary.  A decree to be issued shall specify the date of entry into force and the procedures for implementing this new requirement. The experimental XP NF C 16-600 for the month of August 2007 sets the control of electrical installations in buildings for residential use in France.

 

The scope of the diagnosis relates to the whole of the installation of electricity facilities, visible, visited the installation of the buildings for residential use located downstream of the EDF comptoir for protection of this installation.

 

The diagnosis relates to the whole circuit of all kinds of tension and current associate for the use of electric power. The diagnosis is made electric without moving furniture or dismantling of the electrical installation or destruction of the insulation of cables.

In the case of sale of all or part of a building for residential use, the state of the domestic electrical installation when it is more than fifteen years. The period of validity of this statement will be determined by simple decree amending the Code of Construction and housing, it will be extended to 3 years in line with the state of the domestic gas installation.

 

The application of the standard C 16-600 XP is presumed to satisfy the requirements methodological above.

 

It is built on all of the electrical installation of the private space of housing and their dependencies, located downstream of the EDF Comptoir and the protection of this facility and to supply terminal hardware use or equipment supplied through conduits up to the sockets. However, the fixed equipment of the facility are subject to the condition of the facility for their selection and implementation.

 

Purpose: Safety requirements, the existence and characteristics the electrical installations its protection and accessibility. 

At least one differential circuit breaker to appropriate conditions for land, the origin of the electrical installation;

One protection against overloading for each circuit.

Equipotential a liaison (cross bonding) and an electrical installation tailored to the specific circumstances of the premises containing a bath or shower;

The state of the installation domestic electricity identifies:

Electrical equipment antiquated, inappropriate use or entail risks of direct contacts with voltage;

Unisulated wiring.

Note: This diagnosis does not constitute a review of the conformity of the electrical installation vis-à-vis the existing regulations, it has a role informative.

 

Thus if finding of danger on the installation, it is the responsibility of the payer to draw the consequences,.

 

The amount of this service should be in the range of € 100 to € 200, depending on configuration (size housing, plant conditions…)
