Angie
We want to terrace our sloping front garden and cut a few winding paths into it because its quite steep to walk up in a straight line. We then intend to create large flower beds and plant up. Because the front garden is large, more than 2 acres and obviously very visible from the road, we are wondering if we need to obtain permission to landscape it? Thank you
tinabee
I have never heard of anyone needing landscaping permission - but if you wanted to be sure, why not call into the local Town Hall (Mairie) and ask. I know in some communes there are rules about the types of hedging allowed - so it it always possible that there a local requirements that do not exist across the whole of France. Angie
Called the Mairie and had a reply back today. No, we don't need permission for the landscaping or re-routing of our driveway as long as the access onto the road remains in the same place
