1. Not too sure if it's the best meal I've ever cooked, but it was the most challenging and rewarding, and one I would certainly enjoy again Some friends do not eat meat, fish, mushrooms or eggs!!  I searched through the few cookery books I had with me and came up with the following menu; ************* Spinach and ricotta lasagne with homemade tomato jus and salad leaves, ****************************** Potato, leek and cheese gratin (loosely based on tartiflette) Spicy bean casserole Roasted summer veg ****************** cheese and biscuits ************** pear tart and creme fraiche ************ I think they enjoyed it, as there were clean plates all round.[:D]
2. I recently travelled back from France, and the 'duty-free' shop didn't open until we had been sailing for 1/2 hour. I only wanted to buy a newspaper[:(]
3. Following on from my last posting, Clair has compiled a fact sheet for those who may have to deal with the death of a loved one whilst living in France. http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1507398/ShowPost.aspx
4. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. Val
5. There is a saying that you should 'eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper'. presumably this is because not only is it easier to digest, but also  gives you the energy you need. I have to admit that as I've gotten older I find it more difficult to digest a heavy meal after about 8pm.[:(]
6.
Yes, something's definitely got to change.   I bake lovely bread
Could wheat be a problem?[:-))]  I used to have bread/toast every day. I tried a GI eating plan, avoiding wheat and although I didn't loose much weight I lost inches around my waist. As soon as I started to eat lots of bread I start to bloat again. [:(] Anyone want to buy a breadmaker?
7.
Problem was.......he couldnt cook very well.   Admittedly, his pizzas were pretty good, but one day he suggested cooking a fresh ducks breast in the microwave. Something had to be done.
[+o(]
8. A cardiologist died and was given an elaborate funeral. A huge Heart covered in flowers stood behind the casket during the service. Following the eulogy, the heart opened, and the casket rolled inside. The heart then closed, sealing the doctor in the beautiful heart forever. At that point, one of the mourners burst into laughter. When all eyes stared at him, he said, "I'm sorry, I was just thinking of my own funeral....I'm a gynecologist". The proctologist fainted. [+o(] Edit; sorry double posting.

10. Could it be desribed as 'Traditionally prepared' which would leave him room to adjust the menu according to the seasons.
11. Have to confess that I 'borrowed' it. Just thought it might be of amusement to others........especially those who remember following an elderly gent (wearing a trilby) travelling at the top speed of 25mph. [Www]
12. If you are thinking of planning a sunday afternoon excursion, give this a go. ‎1 - Open Google Maps (directions) 2 - Type China as your starting point 3 - Type Taiwan as your destination. 4 - Read step 48 Who'll be the first to do it? [:D]
13.
The previous ladyfriend and myself (early 30`s) generally slept together but had a spare bedroom which would be used by either of us at any time due to her snoring like a faulty chainsaw and me snoring like an old tractor starting from cold. Whoever was disturbed by the others noises would retreat to the second bedroom for some peace and quiet.
[:D][:D][:D]

16. I have always believed that  if I wasn't there at the time, and heard ,and saw everything that may or may not have taken place then I was not in a position to make any comment.. Every thing else may be conjecture.
17.
Interestingly, I have invited some French widows in the past for drinks and the invitations have always been happily accepted.  I guess once the old man has popped his cloggs, it's socially acceptable to spend time with whomever you choose!
[:D][:D][:D]

24. Honeysuckle should also do well. I found that the first year after planting my climbers didn't do very well, but this year (the second) they are really thriving.[:D] For more info http://www.which.co.uk/documents/pdf/growing-on-chalk-154026.pdf
