1. Looking at ads on Ebay France for similar vehicles (with more kms but LHD) that looks like a pretty good offer. RHD vehicles are worth less than LHD on the used market (look at Ebay GB where you can get very nice Peugeot diesel estates of that age for £4000-£5000), and have even less value in a country where vehicles drive on the right. I'm sure that if she feels it can be repaired economically (but bear in mind that it's still RHD in France so takes a tumble in value) she could come to some arrangement with the insurer, but I would take the offer. If somebody offered me that for my RHD Renault estate of a similar age I would be biting their hands off.
2. Yes, the pay slip gives that information, and you may be able to get a récapitulatif from your employer's accountant. But as there is no PAYE in France you could not really have a direct equivalent to a P60. The thing that is generally taken as chapter and verse as far as taxable income is concerned is the 'avis d'imposition' issued by the tax office to tell you what you owe after you have made your tax return.
3.
This is a UK problem, not a French one.
How can it be? Britain hasn't changed anything - it's the French that have changed things, according to them, in line with European residence rules. In fact Britain is far more generous to its early retired by giving them a nominal two years of E106 cover. Few other countries offer that.
4. From the BUPA website, about a private policy for British nationals in Spain: Brought to you in partnership with our sister company Sanitas, this tailored private health plan provides comprehensive health insurance cover both in Spain and one other European country of your choice (including the UK), so that you feel well protected as you move from place to place. So could you get insurance for France and Spain? Presumably you would need an address you could use in Spain?
5. I notice on the AngloInfo Brittany (yes, I know) site that a company called BML Assurance at Dinan is advertising, with reference to full private health assurance. To quote one paragraph of its advert: "For UK citizens who have legally lived in France for five years, you need to obtain a permanent resident certificate from your Prefectures Office, you can then not be refused access into the CMU."   The company can be contacted at: contact@angloagence.com - there seems to be a web address www.angloagence.com   Usual disclaimers apply - no experience of the agency or connection with the people - we don't even need French health assurance.
