  1. Anyone who sometimes uses the St Denis route into Paris (e.g from the A16 and through Sarcelles to the BP) beware of the road works. A new tramway is under construction and it is horrendous. Doesnt affect the A1 route as far as I know. From the A16 take the Francilliene instead or cut across to the A1 at CDG.
  2. Not really! I did the same search but didnt help.
  3. A friend of mine who lives near Briare saw an article in his local paper saying that Briare airport is being considered for an upgrade to a Paris airport with 30 minute TGV link to the capital. However this was printed on April 1st so he doesnt know if it is a wind-up or not. Anyone know? I wasnt aware the French papers did a wind up on 1st April a la Guardian/Daily Mail!!
  4. I tried M & S which included RAC European Breakdown and Green Card but the quote was £110 more than my exisiting quote so I suppose you pay for it one way or another. I will still try one or two others before I give up!!
  5. Wish I knew about M & S as I have already got RAC UK and European cover. Should have done my research I suppose. Doh!
  6. And are these definitely Fully Comprehensive because I thought I had that but when I read the policy document it said it was Third Party cover only for EU even though my policy is Comprehensive? I wondered if all companies are the same but will try the 2 suggested. Thanks. Sorry Tandem - just realised you said 'comprehensive' in your text.
  7. I have recently had a renewal notice from my car insurance providers (Churchill) stating that the Green Card now only offers Third Party cover in the EU and if I want comprehensive cover I have to pay extra. When I rang them they said that a 2 week trip to France, for example, would be £18. This is OK for a 'one off' but as a frequent traveller it mounts up. Has anyone got experience of this? Are all companies adopting this policy? Do any of the insurance companies offer a year's cover?
  8. Good job I chose to come back on Sunday via the tunnel rather than Ferry on Monday which was going to be my choice until a few days ago. Didnt even get held up by Operation Stack as the A20 diversion was empty early Sunday morning. I was in France long before I would have even left Dover and for £50 more - worth every penny!
  9. Certainly be OK on Good Friday (March 21st) as it isnt even a Bank Holiday in France.
  10. I had to drive to Paris and therefore didnt use either of my tickets to/from Paris. I tried to get reimbursed online but it didnt work. Lollie - Did you have to get your refund at the station? I am 25 miles from the station so would need a special journey and would cost me half of my reclaimed fare anyway!
  11. Their website implies that you do get a refund plus if you have a ticket for a specific train (grandes lignes only) which then doesnt run you can use the ticket on any train to the same destination that day. Sounds obvious but better to state it! I am keeping fingers crossed for my journey back to UK on Thursday. Eurostar is OK but getting to Paris might be more difficult. There is a big meeting on Wednesday which rumour has it might go some way to resolving at least part of the problem with Thursday looking a better day. The SNCF website also allows you to input the train number or date/time and destination to tell you if your train is running.
