FAQ - Oil Heating, Hot water production and plumbing “funnies” in France

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the reply Gluestick.

My oil is definitely 'clear' and not red, my technical french unfortunately, is not up to asking the supplier but I do know a man that will do the necessary!

If I understand correctly, if this is 28 second oil, Kerosine, and not 35 second diesel, this is quite unusual in france?

If you need to use kerosene to fuel an old school diesel (one with a mechanical injection pump) you need to add a minimum of 2% by volume of ordinary engine oil or two stroke oil to the kerosene to lubricate the pump.

Worth mentioning that running kerosene will result in about a 5% reduction in power - it's less dense.
