There was a change in the law in 2007 which means you don't have to pay the VAT back but thats assuming you have a French lease. With boats the French like to buy the property with the leaseback which can be done in France with French leasebacks.I did find THIS which may be of interest as it has a link to an English company that deals with buying and selling.
