(Full disclosure, I did have a first generation 3.5L petrol Range Rover many years ago, but was towing either a dive boat or a 1500kg sailing boat in Scotland.) I believe in the USA (where many trends originate), far less "normal" cars are being built, but that does not seem a reasonable excuse to import that trend to Europe.
