Meanwhile in France

you have to take the public with you

I suppose this accounts for the police inaction at these events.  Cycled alongside kilometres of stalled traffic yesterday as the anti faction had put a filter blockage on the main road out of Nantes. What always aggravates me is they always burn piles of tyres at these events.  We had to hold our breath cycling through the black smoke.

Apart from the pollution, and the self inflicted harm they are causing, the police/pompiers never seem to react. Perhaps, as you say, DraytonBoy  they take the strange view that they want to keep the public on their side?

Macron

He is hated in France by everyone.

This is about Macron not about pension reforms.

Until he goes, this ongoing 6 year nightmare will not end.

Macron knows this…..but he won’t

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others.

Why say something that is not true?  Everyone? I do not hate him; neither does my neighbour!

Blimey, everyone in our middle class circles (you know what I mean)…hates the man.  I don’t know one person that likes him. He is so hated that he is off topic.

I think this whole palaver is about Macron.

Retirement age needs to change if you fall for the pension scam. Everyone knows that.

But this latest mess is just another mess about Macron.

He needs to stand down for the sake of France.

Macron has taken a very difficult decision and is being pilloried for it; whichever, someone had to do it, the Socialists are too lily livered and Le Pen wouldn't dare.

Time the far left unions grew up. Oh and perhaps their links to Moscow might be investigated?

Macron want’s to pîss off people that he knows hate him. It is a Trump thing.

This is not about retirement age.

I've been monitoring the comments section of the local paper. The vast majority are appalled by both the violence and the actions of the unions. Most point to other countries where the retirement age is even older and the benefits are less. No one is asking for Macrons head, quite the opposite.

Macron is finished both internationally and domestically. Will he walk….no.

So France is stuck for another 4 years.

This shīt will be going on for months.

The cost to the taxpayers and the economy is enormous.

And we have the Olympiques next year. That is not going to go well.

France is not in a good place.

I think the responses on this forum have shown that the opinion in France nationally is more divided. As anotherbanana has said something has to be done to address the pension deficit and Macrons reforms were in his manifesto so people can't say they weren't warned.

Peeps voted for Macron to keep MLP out. It was a call of duty. Nothing about his policies.

And that is where France is and has always been.

If peeps think that increasing the retirement age to get a full pension is a solution then they need their head examined.

Relying on a government pension is the most stupid thing you can do in life.

Just to be clear: I did write "could equal apply to some posters here" The subsequent 'absolutely'. and 'of course' was posted in my name by some scumbag who has somehow managed to use my name, not for the first time either. This piece of low life won't come out of the shadows and there appears nothing I can do.  However I will always answer a question! Yes, I do speak French though I consider it to be pretentious to do so on an English speaking website.

Colour me stupid then.  The UK Government pension scheme has kept us in the life style we are used to in France for the past 27 years 😁

To be fair the National Insurance fund was in a much better state in the mid 90's. Women were also able to retire at 60.

that's a serious claim Ken.

I assume that you have changed your password

Well there is serious and serious I suppose, I don't take things too seriously in life and certainly not a public forum! I haven't changed my password, is there any point? The piece of dirt posting in my name has been doing it for a long time and no doubt could once again 'hack' a new password. He or she is obviously fixated in some way and is almost certainly someone with  a childish mentality, or even perhaps a mental problem!!! This form of pond life probably gets some sort of 'kick' out of it.  I spoke to a moderator some time ago who also suggested I change my password but said it may make no difference!!! I can only, as I said, answer any question put to me. It doesn't stop the person posting in my name of course but when ever I see it I will bring it to people's attention.
