gin saunders Posted January 5, 2023 Share Posted January 5, 2023 we bought a house in France last year and had a long stay visa last year allowing us to stay for 6 months. It expired in November and we've only just discovered (whilst applying for a 2nd one) that we cannot re-apply until 6 months after the expiry of the 1st visa. Does anyone know if we can visit france for 2 months on an ordinary schengen (90 day visa); then come back to the Uk and apply for the V-TLS so we can return a month later and stay for upto 4 months? we're just scared that when we apply with TLS, they'll see our passport stamps and say we have to wait another period of time before validating the visa application... DraytonBoy Posted January 6, 2023 Share Posted January 6, 2023 This UK government website seems to suggest that your French long stay visa and short stay Schengen eligibility are separate so you should be okay - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-france Look in the Passports and Travel section - If you stay in France with a French residence permit or long stay visa, this time does not count towards your 90-day visa-free limit for the Schengen area.
