During our last visit to Bourgogne, we discovered the Cave at Buxy. We bought a selection of single bottles and so far, we have enjoyed the wines bought.

It was a really good visit, the staff were very friendly, the choice of wines excellent and the prices good.

For many of the wines, there are information cards which, as well as describing the wine, include a recipe to accompany it.

Having discovered the Cave, we are now looking forward to visiting on a Saturday when there are discovery mornings with food and tasting.

Wine can be bought en vrac and bag in box.

All in all an extremely good trip.

Hello Rowland, we've been there a couple of times. Is this a regular Saturday thing or occasional?

Do you get to any of the many wine festivals around Burgundy, check :-

The Vigerons de Buxy have two caves, in Buxy and in St Gengoux.

They have wine tasting every Saturday between 11 and midi.

On Satuday 11th June there is a "Portes Ouvertes" with guided visits of the caves and vineyards plus lunch and dinner and a concert (Eric Toulis) at 8.30pm.

There are guided visits round the caves every day in July and August

"Caves ouvertes" weekend of 23/24th July

Wine, cheese and gaufres at weekends during the grape picking season.

Thanks for the info Claude. Dates noted.

Last year we were introduced to the tiny village of Chardonnay, down between Tournus and Macon. It seems to have a theatre and quite a thriving social calendar, and there's a really nice auberge/restaurant there run by a British family. The village is visited by tourists because of its name. Worth a look.
