I do have a bean bag that you heat up in the microwave on my lap.  I have two wood burning stoves on full pelt.

But it is my poor little feet that are SOOOOOOOOOO cold, even though I am wearing thick socks.

This is what they do at my daughter's centre equestre:  Put a couple (or as many as you like) of bricks or stone half slabs on top of the wood burning stove.  They will heat up nicely then you can put them on the floor and rest your feet on top of them.

Obviously no good at all if you are moving about but if you are sitting, or standing in one place doing the cooking for example it's ideal - a bit like having under floor heating [;-)]

Iceni - the four children are mine and they are here with me in France.  I might get into bed with one of them right now!
Then why did you lie about being alone in France ? A feeble attempt to gain sympathy I suppose.[:P]

Thermal undies, plus layers of suitable clothing

Wear warm socks or thick tights

A good brisk walk during the day

Indoors wear good slippers, look for ones with thick soles especially if you have tiled floors

Hot water bottle for bedtime but best of all a good electric blanket

Bon courage[:)]

Don't worry about all the  critical posts Cathy. For a woman, living alone in France (with or without children) is a very isolating experience - perhaps the male posters criticising you haven't experienced this.   I'm not in the Medoc but near St. Emilion so I can't stop by to cheer you up but if you PM me, I'll be happy to give you my phone # if ever you feel like a chat.  Oh yes, I have cold feet, too! -6° like you and my central heating is on the blink............[:-))]

Well that's reason enough. Please don't cry, the poster isn't worth it, after all, he too is sat reading the forum! Think about all the benefits and positives you got from joining in. Please don't get upset.

My God has AI closed down and Possum World too!!.........  Never mind cathy, you and wooly B  got another 8 posts out of it [:P].

I am sorry, you took it so personally and I know you posted the bump up with good intentions but what do you think what would happen if everybody at a loose end took it upon themselves to bump every unanswered post up the threads?  Posts are often left unanswered  for very good reasons, its a specialist question nobody knows the answer to or is too long and complicated or in the case you bumped up, the poster had asked a lot of "what ifs" already without lifting a finger to do any research of their own.  If you and Liz (he's not worth it)MH want to chat, have a look in other topics, WB, Mrs T, Twinkle and Leo are just sitting there in other topics waiting for a  chat, but in the main forums, like the South West France, that is where people look for answers and information and where this Forum got its name as the best for information and assistance and why you presumably look here, I looked at that post expecting to see news on a thaw or somebody with a problem with water supplies or oil consumption in our region, not to read that your toes were cold.

You were lucky SD was patient he obviously believed that you were a genuine poster (and he has a stache of "answers" that he cuts and pastes) I suspect, but I, afraid as we saw yesterday morning not all posters are genuine and some trolls just post daft questions just to annoy and genuine first time posters get caught in the crossfire.  As Bugbear said the other day, some people take a lot of time to research answers often quite within the capabilities of the OP and get little thanks for it. . but after a while you get to know those who are really just wasting everybody's time and just ignore them.

Once again I am sorry if you got upset but I am sure that you undertand that the post was made with the best intentions.

I accept your apology.  You were a bully last night.  If you continue to post like you did last night, there will be no Forum because you will frighten everyone off.

OK so I made a mistake to put a comment into South West:  I'm new to this or any kind of Forum.  However, your response to my 'mistake' was to write two nasty postings, one of them in red, at 11.30pm on a Sunday evening.

There are different kinds of people in this Forum.  Some people come in for information - I did intially.  Some people come in for friendship - which is what I do now.  This Forum is a lifeline for me.  I have received so much help from it.

The posting that I bumped was because I was browsing through the 'unanswered' and was surprised as it was a question that hadn't had a responce.  It was from a lady with 9 postings, who wanted to run an internet business.  I was interested in hearing the answer from one of the knowledgable posters here.  Does it really matter if someone has asked the same question before?

I could go on but I won't because I realise that you have said sorry, which is gracious of you.  No doubt, in future, you will try to be temperate with your postings.

Let's kiss and make up...

Let's kiss and make up...[kiss]

Yes, but lets get factual first,  you post a lot of stuff in the SW which is not relevant to it

You post in blue. I posted in red to warm you up and probably got your cheeks warm anyway[6]

........ but after 500 postings the I'm new here excuse is a little bit, how can be say, weak.

I won't promise to be temperate, but I'll try..........[blink]

I use mine as hot water bottle, Coops, but I  had to pull its claws out first though............[;-)]  Only joking, they are really warm aren't they, the old doggy who has been gone a year now, loved laying on my feet, the cat is not so disposed and prefers laps and chests.
We used to have 5 pet cats here, but as the winter got colder we had to put them on the fire to keep us warm. We don't have central heating and my wifes feet get so cold now that we have run out of cats. The budgies will be next.
The problem is that they tend to hiss and spit a bit.  They work better on an enclosed fire.

The snag with Cooper (the orange cat in the pic') is that he's too big to fit through the boiler door.

My tootsies are SO cold.  How do I keep them warm?
In bed I use a hotwater bottle to keep my toes warm. During the day, if not at work, I usually wear 2 pairs of socks on : one pair of thin little summer cotton ones and over that a pair of thick woollen socks going all the way over my knees which my Mother knitted for her grandson when he visited Tibet a few years back. He was very glad of them then but since these socks languished in his chest of drawer so they are now on my feet and my little toes are as warm as toast. [:D]

It helps too if I have a little walk about or some kind of exercise. You'd think it is mad but I run up and down my stairs a dozen times or so non-stop, cheaper than the gym which is 5 miles away from here and also as most time it is raining outside and dark that I don't fancy a walk across the fields as I would do in the summer.

At work the central heating is full on (I am not paying the bill!) so toes are OK in normal footwear.
