chirpy
Hi, on my tax bill this month which I did on line as previous years the estimated sum was same as my bill ,except for a request for additional tax of 18euro +18euro for majoration de 10% sur 1er and 2d acompte. My return is the same each year and we are a married retired couple .......is this a new tax levy???puzzled.Nothing has changed and mine is a simple uncomplicated return, although their on line form had changed a lot and my French is from school 60 years ago! Clair
The "majoration de 10%" is a penalty applied in case of late payment or which may be applied in case of error the taxpayer, when the advance payments (acomptes) are insufficient, meaning the final tax is higher than the final estimate of the taxpayer.More details here (translation). idun
As far as I was aware, one off payments were purely for the very first time we fill in tax forms OR, if the income tax is next to nothing, I daresay you could find this sum on the service public web site or impots web site. Otherwise it's monthly prelevement of three payments. If you don't pay much and go over that limit, then you would end up with these extra penalty payments. chirpy
tks but I have paid in only 1 lot .but because you declare your income on the internet you have the choice of paying in September and can declare later tan those who do by paper forms. CeeJay
Sorry, don't understand this unless my tax bill at about 3000 Euros is deemed to be small! All information accompanying the Avis details numerous ways to pay which includes one off payments, perhaps I am looking at the wrong thing? idun
http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/F3118.xhtml http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/F3120.xhtmlI think that this one says it all. The limit on this is having an annual tax bill of 342€ or less. Which is not a very big amount is it? So if the OP was paying an extra 18€ each time, I take it that that means it is 10%, so the tiers payment should have been 180€ x3 takes it above the 342€ limit. Haut Every french person I know either pays the tiers payment or monthly. The calender is above, if you click shows all the payment dates if you follow all the links. As far as I was concerned, as in the UK, when you are in the system, you have to start making payments towards the next tax bill in advance. There is no choice unless one falls under that 342€ plafond. There wasn't any way for us to get out of this in France and there isn't one for us now HMRC, who wants paying in advance, one payment in January and the next in July.
