A rosy view of my sad old town

Recommended Posts

I just came across this site which give

a rather more flattering portrait of the urban hell I call home than

I usually do..

You can just look at random, but I quite like:

Some of the little quiet corners

river

And quite by chance, since it is

nowhere near where I live, a place where I worked for several years

and finally me

A great site Normy, I loved the panorama treatment, and it looks a lovely spot to be, certainly a reason to be cheerful, it's a wonderful life eh . . .
and it reminded me of this rosy poem.

Leisure - W. H. Davies
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

We have a holiday house near Narbonne, we'll have to have another look up your way the next time we are over, it's a few years since we ventured up to Beziers but I have to admit my recollections were not of a particularly picturesque town, thanks for giving another perspective, love the 'panorama' view and the background sound.

P.S. Is that you with your back to the camera in the last one Norman?
