We live in the Burgundy, although we have only been here a few months. If you read an article in last Sundays 'Sunday Telegraph'(10th Feb 02) you'll see a review about a company called Simply Burgundy. They have a website called www.SimplyBurgundy.com , it was a pretty good review about the area of Burgundy too.
PS If you do decide to come over to buy in Burgundy, try buying down the southern area, we seem to be all alone!!

Good Luck.

Having spent two wonderful weeks in Burgundy we have found a little house in a hamlet near to the source de la Seine. We have had our offer accepted and have to return to France to sign the papers, then the house will be ours. We want to integrate with the villagers but are there any other English in that area, north of Dijon? It is a beautiful area and we hope to be happy there.

regarding this question, all the replies seem to be very old, but if anyone is interested here goes..
we bought a house near Chaufailles over a year ago.we are about 15 mins fron La Clayette. the area is beautiful. there are 3 other british people who have holiday houses in the area, that we know of, and we only know them because we were introduced by our british builder friend. He helped us buy the house, arranged all the things we could not do because of distance or language problems, and has overseen major building work and done building work for us as well. if you want his name i can give it to you. he lives in Roanne. He and his wife and son do and will maintain property, arrange oil deliveries, shut down in winter etc. he is also an expert on swimming pools after overseeing the building of ours and doing tons of research on our behalf.
we love being there and always cant wait till the next visit, if anyone is dithering, we say take the plunge, its easy really. but do beware and do your homework, you could come unstuck. we had english solicitor/notaires working for us, expensive but comforting.

Hello there,
We are just in the process of buying a renovated farm not far from Saint Gengoux le National - a very pretty little medieval town. We have only visited the region a few times but loved it straight away and decided that is where we want to be - just holidays at present, but eventually we hope to be able to spend longer periods there. We're hoping to complete in August.

We found an English agent, Kevin Passmore, in Cluny (which is also very attractive). He has a partnership with a French guy and has been in business there for about 15 years. His website address is www.sud-bourgogne-immo.com and email [email protected]

We found a farmhouse at Burzy with Kevin (after lots of driving and looking at about 20 properties) but it didn't work out, and now we are buying a property with Cote-Bourgogne (Emilie Dall'Acqua) who have been very helpful throughout. Email is
[email protected] and website www.cote-bourgogne-immobilier.com Emilie speaks quite good English.

We'd love to hear how you get on. We can't wait to get back there and move in.
Bye for now,
Hilary & John
