Cacknanty
Not really, but it might have grabbed a bit of attention.I am looking for the cheapest and best 'Vins en Vrac' in Burgundy. So far I have found the Cave de Mazenay at 1.35 € for 13deg rouge to be the best . Their 11 deg is at 0.95€ per litre. On our next trip we will visit a Mssr Bouley at Change who has Pinot Noir & Chardonnay at 2.20€ per litre.Anyone else have their favourites ? Dick Smith
I have never found 'cheapest' and 'best' to sit happily together where wine is concerned...My strategy is to drink less off the good stuff, but that is usually in bottles, St Joseph, Crozes-Hermitages up to Gevrey Chambertin if it is on special offer. Will
I agree with Dick, I've always found Bourgogne to be truly excellent in the upper-mid-price range and above (Gevrey Chambertin is my favourite too, along with Hospices de Beaune - or a good Côte de Beaune) but pretty dire at the cheap end. I'm sure there may be some places where you can get something decent en vrac, but in general better wine is bottled so that it matures properly. It's invariably the vin de table that comes in bulk.Best of luck; I'm sure you'll enjoy your survey anyway.
