Nell
Filling out tax return on-line for the first time and thought I was doing quite well until....Pink form - Interest Interest (as little as it is!!) declared in box number 233 and box 231 states "Royaume-Uni" as it comes from the UK, but I can't get past this page as on-line it asks me to fill in box 235 "Taux Applicable" Sorry but I have no idea what this should be. Any help would be much appreciated.Thank you.
Kong
Try sticking in zero in Taux applicable or even 0,0% (note comma) and then should go on to show amount in 242 which is box 2TR
Nell
Many thanks for the reply. You are right, if I put 0 in there it lets me continue, but is "0" correct? It would be nice if it was!!!
Kong
I think it is. My take on this the Taux is tax rate taken in the country of origin of the interest. Basically we are not able to claim a reduction on tax in France so the interest is declared without any abbatement as income and you pay french tax on it. If the UK lopped off 20% you have to claim it back from HMRC, but I think now interest is payed gross in the UK. This is how I see it so please seek other opinions on this.
