Murdered on this day

Our villages and roads have many memorials, large and small, public and private, remembering people who were shot on the roadside, in a woodland clearing, or outside prisons, for resisting the occupation agreed to by their rulers.

We have the same here nomoss, and some of the stories behind them are heartbreaking. But there were also two collaborators that were taken out and shot after the liberation, people that had profited by reporting resistance fighters and Jews. One of them was hauled in a cart to the square in front of the church so that everyone would see and know. Which was apt, as he was the verger.

Yes, I saw that on too, NormanH, and thought, what is society doing to itself, if a parking place is more important than someone's life.  And though in a totally different league, on the UK news, yesterday, a mother who killed her two young daughters because they got in the way of her sex life.

It beggars belief.
