Best LP/CD ever?

Recommended Posts

Which parts of your anatomy are you using on the keyboard ? To quote Len Deighton/Harry Palmer - "Are you playing it with your elbows ? ".    Alan Freeman was Fluff.  The only Muff that I am aware of that can be mentioned in polite society was Muff Winwood who became an A & R man but was in the Spencer Davies band at the same time as Stevie Winwood. Central Perk is a parking space reserved for the MD in many cities in the Midlands.

Joni Mitchel - Miles of Aisles

Fairport Convention - History (or anything from that period)

Jimi Hendrix  - Are You Experienced

Capt. Beefheart - Safe as Milk

Flying Burrito Bros - Guilded Palance of Sin

Five Hand Reel - Earl of Muray

Bob Dylan -  Bringing it all Back Home

John Martyn - The Tumbler.

Pete Atkin - Driving Through Mythical America

Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town

Martin Simpson - Smoke & Mirrors

Depends how I feel and how I want to feel.

Mary Poppins - just joking. The kids loved it though and played it 100 times. For good music and sentimental memories, Crosby Stills and Nash (and Young ) from 1969 and one of the Simon and Garfunkel lps, the one with Bridge over Troubled Waters. I have the piano music for that and often play the songs. Wish I could sing like them.
anyone heard of Pavlov's Dog? the album was called 'at the sound of the bell' way ahead of its time.
I've still got Pampered Menial and At the sound of the Bell!

I bought them after seeing a movie that used their music as part of the soundtrack... Can't remember the title...

brilliant Clair, David Surkamp kicks of a european tour on the 15th, unfortunately it only takes in Germany and Greece. I have two other albums, 'Lost in America' and 'Third' both are not as good as the first two that you have IMHO.  Just made me listen to Julia again...thank you[:)]
Anton, I get most of your choices!  If you get the chance, look out for Seth Lakeman - stunning.
Any recommendations on best place to start - will put on next Amazon order if I cannot find in FNAC or Virgin.

Must get second LNB set up again so I can have the UK radio on while Isabelwatches TV

I assume you know that Fairport are still going strong?  Their 40th Anniversary weekend festival this August.  Also playing are the two above, plus Fairport doing the whole of Leige and Lief with Chris While (fabulous voice) doing the Sandy Denny bit, and Richard Thompson over from the States too.  Cannot wait - worth a trip to the UK for!

I have heard Show of Hands - Cannot make Croperdy this year but normally see FC every couple of years. Last saw Swarb and Carthy on 'The Spinners Retirement Tour' - so named because they  always replied to "when will you play together again ?" with "When The Spinners Retire"

A Sky digibox or with a bit more hassle a standard dish a numerique decoder gets a huge range of UK radio stations. Link below to list (when I find it)
