Hi

I was under the impression that a gas system ( tank not town) was cheaper to run than oil, only today my client has been told a gas system for hot water heating and cooking is much more expensive to run ?

Obviously energy prices fluctuate, and there are many different things that influence the final heating bill, but I think it is still generally correct that, in France, an oil system will be more economical to run than an LPG system.

Both oil and tank gas are currently rising massively in price due to "market forces" or so I am told.

I assume that town gas is not available, the price of this is controled by the government but will no doubt have to rise to meet the wholesale cost of purchase.

When you say hot water heating do you mean "heating hot water" or a wet radiator heating system? If it is the former then electricity not only is the cheapest but is likely to remain so thanks to the nuclear and renewable supplies.
