chocccie
Am I right in thinking that it's inadvisable to put white goods onto a timer switch?Cheap leccy starts after I've gone to bed and stops before I get up!But I have in the back of my mind that large electrical items shouldn't really have a timer on them? cooperlola
It might be inadvisable (I guess it's a question of the amount of power they use) but I've been doing it for years myself both here and in the UK without problems. I do all my washing and dishwashing at cheap rate in this way.
Clair
I do as Coop does, using a timer to get the dryer on during the cheap rate. The washing machine has a built-in delayed start (départ différé) so I can program it to start when it best suits my purse. Iceni
I do as Coop does, using a timer to get the dryer on during the cheap rate.
Sadly on our drying machine we have a clockwork timing device. Luckily we have HC during the afternoon.John

Russethouse
I think the reason its not advisable is the fire risk - dishwashers and tumble dryers in particular - make sure you have a good smoke alarm !
chocccie
yes that's what I understood - that big white good could represent a fire risk.I do have smoke alarms... but there is a mighty thick stone wall between my bedroom and the kitchen!
