France 3 will commence their three part operatic blockbuster this evening saturday. The broadcast "en direct" from Mantoue in Italy rather than an established Opera House reflects Verdi's setting for the work. So tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening.

We watched some of it.

Although I love listening to Placido Domingo I've never been able to enjoy watching opera, it's so long-drawn out. He took about 10 minutes to say goodnight to his daughter!

The exception is Carmen, which I could watch over and over. PD singing the Flower Song is so beautiful. (can't do links on here.)

Not that I've seen many operas.

Even on RAI Uno; but I must agree I love that matador stuff in Carmen. Oh and tonite "Le Donne sono mobile" is a catchy tune.[:D]
