pachapapa
France 3 will commence their three part operatic blockbuster this evening saturday. The broadcast "en direct" from Mantoue in Italy rather than an established Opera House reflects Verdi's setting for the work. So tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening.http://www.toutpourlesfemmes.com/conseil/Rigoletto-de-Verdi-sur-France-3.htmlhttp://tele.premiere.fr/News-Tele/Rigoletto-France-3-se-met-a-l-Opera-les-4-et-5-septembre-2010-en-direct-de-Mantoue-en-Italie/(gid)/2391322

woolybanana
Lets be international and use a nice Sechuan sauce, as rigoletto can be so fade at times, though not if accompanied by baby octopus!

Patf
We watched some of it. Although I love listening to Placido Domingo I've never been able to enjoy watching opera, it's so long-drawn out. He took about 10 minutes to say goodnight to his daughter! The exception is Carmen, which I could watch over and over. PD singing the Flower Song is so beautiful. (can't do links on here.)Not that I've seen many operas.
