Great place but avoid the traffic congestion leaving the island on Sunday evening.

and definitely go off season otherwise the tolls for the bridge are very high.

I was going to say....considering the toll prices it'd take more than a nice lunch to entice me to the Ile de Re .

If people want to avoid the tolls . They can park up on the mainland and take the bus . Or like many do just cycle over the bridge .

I agree, the Ré bus from La Rochelle station is a good idea and bike hire once you arrive.
