Quillan
Seems the weather has 'locked' pollution in to some specific areas and people are being told not to light their fires, no garden waste burning and not to drive their cars unless absolutely necessary. The Riff-Raff Element
RTL were talking about the Ile de France being bad too, but I suppose that's not a great shock. I was reading somewhere recently that about 84% of the cars on French roads are diesels and that if this were reduced to 50% then deaths from repository illness would fall by around 20,000 per year. I have no idea whether this is true, but given the smoke belching out of elderly Peugeots I see around here, I can almost believe it.
dave21478
Pfff, in the West, they greet on about stuff like this and insist that we use low energy lightbulbs.Meanwhile, in China.......the smog is so bad that people are being exposed to levels of pollution several orders of magnitude higher than what is considered "safe".China and India are putting how many millions of new cars on the road very year?I will be lighting my fire this evening and every coming evening and not loosing any sleep over it.
